ESCEO-Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, Stefania Maggi Prize

The WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress Committee has the great pleasure to announce that a new Award, of a value of 2.000 Euros has been created to celebrate the partnership between ESCEO and ACER.

The ESCEO-Aging Clinical and Experimental Research, Stefania Maggi Prize” 

will be awarded to a scientist:

  • Having published a full article (first author, senior author or co-author) in Aging Clinical and Experimental Research between January 01, 2022 and March 31, 2023.
  • Of less than 40 years of age on April 01, 2023.
  • Who will attend the 2023 WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

This Award will be presented by the President of ESCEO to the recipient, during the 2023 WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
 
Applications should be submitted before April 01, 2023.

ESCEO-IOF YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS

The ESCEO-IOF Young Investigator Awards are given to young investigators for their contributions in the field of bone and mineral research.

Twenty awards of 1000€ each will be distributed during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Annual Meeting.

Requirements:

  • To be born after January 1, 1983
  • To be co-author of at least two abstracts submitted to the WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2023 Congress
  • Recipients must be duly registered to the Congress and attend the congress
  • Recipients must have their badge scanned on Saturday May 6, 2023 afternoon at the registration desk at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB)

Deadline:

  • The application should be completed before February 20, 2023.
  • Abstracts can be submitted until February 20, 2023 on https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/abstracts
  • Application will not be validated if a copy of the two (or more) submitted abstract and a copy of the passport/ID Card are not provided.
  • Applications will only be validated after the reception of a confirmation email from the Congress secretariat (no exception will be granted).
  • Recipients will be selected based on their abstracts by the ESCEO Scientific Advisory Board during the last week of February and notice will be provided no later than the first week of March, 2023.
  • Failure to have the badge scanned on Saturday May 6, 2023 afternoon at the registration desk at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) will result in the cancellation of the Scholarship (no exception will be granted).

  • To submit an abstract related to bone strength, bone quality, falls risk, primary or secondary fracture prevention, multi-disciplinary post-fracture care or imaging techniques of the proximal femur, through the official website (https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/) and, before the deadline of February 20, 2023.
  • Awards recipients must be the first or presenting author of the abstract.
  • Recipients must have their badge scanned on Saturday May 6, 2023 afternoon at the registration desk at the CCIB Congress Center.

IOF Young Investigator Nutrition Research Grants

The IOF Young Investigator Nutrition Research Grants are presented to young researcher in recognition of research excellence in the field of nutrition and musculoskeletal health.

Five awards of 1000 EUR each will be presented for the best abstracts submitted to WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2023 which provide new insights into nutrition and musculoskeletal metabolism or clinical aspects of nutrition and bone health. Research may cover topics such as calcium, vitamin D, protein, micronutrients, and probiotics, among others.

 

Eligibility and Application Information

  • The applicant must be the first author of the abstract and must be 40 years old or younger at the time of submission.
  • Abstracts must be submitted by February 20th, 2023 on: https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/abstracts.
  • Award applications must be submitted by February 20th, 2023.
  • Please include a copy of your submitted abstract, and a scanned copy of your ID or passport, showing your date of birth.

The grants will be presented during the upcoming WCO-IOF-ESCEO 2023 Congress from May 4-7, 2023 (exact date and time to be confirmed).

2023 ESCEO-Islene Araujo de Carvalho Grant

We have the great pleasure to announce you the call for nominations to the 2023 ESCEO-Islene Araujo de Carvalho Grant. This Grant, of a value of 2.500 Euros, will support a scientific project:

  • Conducted in a global public health perspective.
  • In the field of musculoskeletal health and aging.

It has been named after Doctor Islene Araujo de Carvalho, former Senior Policy and Strategy Adviser, Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent Health and Ageing, at WHO, who passed away much too early, and leaving all of us in great sadness.

Requirements:

  • The applicant should be less than 50 years old at the time of the submission
  • The applicant should have submitted at least one abstract to the WCO 2023 (first or associated author)
  • The applicant should be physically present in Barcelona to receive the Award.
  • The project should reach the ESCEO Secretariat (esceoasbl@skynet.be) by February 20, 2023.
  • The application should be limited to the presentation of the research proposal in two A4 pages and to a one-page summary of the CV of the applicant. Applications should be in English.
  • A copy of the abstract submitted by the applicant (first or associated author) to the WCO 2023 should be included.

The recipient of the 2023 ESCEO-Islene Araujo de Carvalho Grant will be announced by March 10, 2023, and the recipient will be presented with a Medal during the Opening Ceremony of the 2023 World Congress on Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases that will take place in Barcelona on Thursday May 4 2023 (https://www.wco-iof-esceo.org/).

IOF President's Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) President's Award honors IOF members from different regions of the world who have made a significant and unstinting contribution to the advancement of the work of the IOF, through furthering one or more of the mission statements and/or goals of the Foundation. Recipients are selected by the IOF President, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

IOF CSA Medal of Achievement

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) CSA Medal of Achievement honors individual researchers who have significantly advanced the field of osteoporosis through their original and outstanding scientific contributions. The award underlines important aspects of IOF's mission - to increase understanding and awareness of osteoporosis and to promote medical innovation. The IOF Medal of Achievement is presented every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. Candidates are nominated by members of IOF's Committee of Scientific Advisors (CSA) and the winner selected by the Chair of the CSA with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

IOF Olof Johnell Science Award

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Olof Johnell Science Award, named in honor of the late Professor Olof Johnell is awarded every year during the WCO-IOF-ESCEO congress. The Award honors an individual who has contributed to the field of osteoporosis in a scientific or policy implementation area, worldwide. The candidates will be nominated by IOF members and the winner chosen by the IOF Board.

IOF Committee of National Societies Medal

The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) Committee of National Societies Medal honors an individual who has made an important contribution to IOFs Committee of National Societies (CNS) through active participation in CNS activities and by expanding IOF's message and outreach in his/her country. An IOF Committee selects the winner, with the approval of the IOF Executive Committee.

ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award

The "ESCEO-IOF Pierre Meunier Young Scientist Award" is intended to reward the work of a young researcher, who has already demonstrated his/her scientific merits without having yet reached a prominent academic position. Numerous awards are dedicated to young promising scientists and other honor the "Masters and Mentors" for their overall work. Nevertheless, there is in between a gap, in the recognition of those who represent the next generation of leaders.

ESCEO-IOF Herbert Fleisch Medal

The "ESCEO-IOF Herbert Fleisch Medal" is intended to reward a researcher who has made outstanding and innovative contribution in basic or translational science. The award is named in honor of Herbert Fleisch, a renowned researcher whose pioneering work has greatly influenced the understanding of bone and mineral metabolism.
